1. Scope of this policy

1.1. Applicable arrangements

This policy concerns the storage mechanisms used by Nutrition Notes on nutritionnotes.info. The project publishes accessible information about sports nutrition. The contact is Nutrition Notes: [email protected]; +44 113 496 0184. This document describes the functions actually included in the website. It does not present advertising, statistical or social tools as active when they are not installed. Resources loaded from external providers are explained separately so that presentation requests are not confused with optional tracking or audience measurement functions.

1.2. Additional information

For a request about this section, identify the page concerned and the operation you would like explained. A factual description helps us understand the issue without unnecessary personal information.

2. Cookies and local storage: the distinction

2.1. Applicable arrangements

A cookie is a small piece of information that can be associated with a domain and exchanged with a server during requests. Local storage is browser memory accessed by page code. This website uses the latter technique to retain a consent preference. Unlike a cookie, this value is not automatically sent with every request. The difference in mechanism does not remove the need to explain why information is stored or accessed. The general term “cookies” used in the banner covers access to this local preference and related browser storage concepts within the applicable regulatory framework.

2.2. Additional information

Read this section alongside the other provisions of this document. The description concerns the functions actually included and does not imply the existence of additional services.

3. Inventory of application storage

3.1. Applicable arrangements

The nutritionnotes.consent key contains a choice value, the time it was recorded and a logical expiry date. The available values are all, partial and functional. No advertising identifier, account identifier or visitor number is generated. The website does not add basket, sign-in, commercial programme or payment cookies because those functions are not offered. Form fields are never included in this preference. An accordion’s open or closed state and the selected article category remain only in memory during the current page visit. They are not added to a lasting individual reading profile or a server-side record.

3.2. Additional information

You can return to this document through the footer to find contact details and the applicable arrangements. Any change affecting this section should be accompanied by appropriate updated information.

4. Purpose of the preference

4.1. Applicable arrangements

The stored preference indicates whether the banner has already been addressed in this browser, avoiding the same choice being presented on every new page. It also allows the preference to be changed through the footer control. Its purpose is limited to managing the choice itself. The value is not used to analyse a reader’s interests, predict behaviour or connect different devices. If storage is unavailable, the website continues to display and the banner may reappear on the next page. The preference does not unlock content, change article availability or create a registered user account.

4.2. Additional information

For a request about this section, identify the page concerned and the operation you would like explained. A factual description helps us understand the issue without unnecessary personal information.

5. The three banner buttons

5.1. Applicable arrangements

Accept All records the broadest choice among the categories offered. Partial records an intermediate preference. Functional records a choice limited to essential functions. Each button closes the banner immediately after selection and attempts to remember the corresponding value on the device. In the current configuration, no optional advertising or audience measurement trackers are installed. The three options therefore do not activate additional services. This clarification avoids suggesting that the broadest choice provides access to content or a service otherwise blocked. You can read the same articles whichever of the three preference values you select.

5.2. Additional information

Read this section alongside the other provisions of this document. The description concerns the functions actually included and does not imply the existence of additional services.

6. Changing, withdrawing or renewing a choice

6.1. Applicable arrangements

The Cookie preferences button in the footer reopens the banner. You can select another option without creating an account, and the new choice replaces the previous one. You can also delete local storage for the domain in your browser settings; the banner will then be displayed again. A recorded preference is treated as valid for up to 183 days before a new choice is requested. This period applies only to remembering the preference. It is not a retention period for messages, which the form does not store, or a statement about the independent retention practices of external providers.

6.2. Additional information

You can return to this document through the footer to find contact details and the applicable arrangements. Any change affecting this section should be accompanied by appropriate updated information.

7. External presentation services

7.1. Applicable arrangements

The browser loads Google Fonts for the Manrope and Source Sans 3 typefaces. The presentation styles are served directly by this website. These connections may communicate technical information to providers, including the IP address, browser type and request time. They are not audience statistics tools integrated by Nutrition Notes. The website does not claim to control all practices of those providers; their own terms describe their operations. The banner choice does not remove these presentation connections in this version, and no optional analytics category is attached to them. Form contents are not included in the requests for these resources.

7.2. Additional information

For a request about this section, identify the page concerned and the operation you would like explained. A factual description helps us understand the issue without unnecessary personal information.

8. Links, images and categories

8.1. Applicable arrangements

The project’s five images are served from the website’s local images folder. No remote image service supplies the illustrations. Documentary links open institutional pages at the reader’s initiative; storage mechanisms on those pages depend on the website visited. Category controls filter articles already present on the page without using an external service. Filtering by category does not create a membership record or send an interest profile to an advertising platform.

8.2. Additional information

Read this section alongside the other provisions of this document. The description concerns the functions actually included and does not imply the existence of additional services.

9. Browser settings and their effects

9.1. Applicable arrangements

Browsers generally allow you to delete a website’s data, limit storage or use private browsing. Names and options vary by software and configuration. After deletion, the preference is no longer available and the banner may reappear. Blocking storage does not prevent you from reading articles, opening menus or viewing contact details. It may, however, prevent the choice from being remembered between pages. The website code does not synchronise preferences across phones, tablets and computers; each browser has its own local state. Consult your browser’s help pages for instructions relevant to the software you use.

9.2. Additional information

You can return to this document through the footer to find contact details and the applicable arrangements. Any change affecting this section should be accompanied by appropriate updated information.

10. Rights, questions and updates

10.1. Applicable arrangements

For a question about this policy, contact [email protected] and identify the browser and function concerned without sending sensitive information. Where personal information is actually processed, applicable rights may be exercised as described in the Privacy Policy. You can also consult the Information Commissioner’s Office and use its complaints procedures. Any new function using storage or access technologies should be described before activation and subject to the choice required by the applicable rules. This policy does not guarantee identical operation in every browser and does not reduce any statutory right available to a visitor under applicable law.

10.2. Additional information

For a request about this section, identify the page concerned and the operation you would like explained. A factual description helps us understand the issue without unnecessary personal information.
